For hikers, bikers and for those who love riding the horses,
in the area of Murlo you will find many possibilities.
Here find some of the best itineraries, there is a map available
with description and map pf these itineraries.
N. 1: "Old Railway Itinerary": length: 3600 m travelling
time: 1h. accessibility: mountain bike , horse, trekking -
It is a pathway equipped with picnic areas, panoramic spots,
boards with information on flora and fauna, connecting Murlo
Mines with the Befa railway station. This suggestive naturalistic
itinerary, runs parallel to the Crevole creek immersed in
woods of o holm-oaks, oaks, strawberry trees, heather, broom
and juniper.
N. 2: "Casanuova-Miniere-Murlo Itinerary " length:
8900 m travelling time: 2h 15'. accessibility: mountain bike,
horse, trekking -Starting from the hamlet of Casanuova nearby
Casciano, it reaches the 512 m. a.s.l. of the Rospatio Pass,
then it follows the ridge winding through woods of Mediterranean
scrub and copse to the Olivello hamlet. It then descends towards
the Murlo Mines area.
N. 3: "Casenovole - Vignali Murlo Itinerary
" length: 4500 m travelling time: 1h 10'. accessibility:
mountain bike, horse, trekking - From itinerary n. 2 to Casenovole,
this path crosses the woods and borders the Vignali farm to
reach Murlo Castello historical centre.
N. 4: "S.P. Buonconvento-Quato-Montepertuso-La Befa
Itinerary" length: 4800 m. travelling time: 1h 15'. accessibility:
mountain bike, horse, trekking - From Montepertuso provincial
road starts a dirt road leading to Montorgiali and Montorgialino,
after crossing pastures and woods. The path then leads us
to an ancient cylindrical stone furnace, which reminds us
of Murlo mining activities, finally reaching Quato, Montepertuso,
with its suggestive landscape, and the Befa.
N. 5: "Vignali-Miniere-Montorgiali Itinerary"
length: 3000 m. travelling time: 45'. accessibility: mountain
bike, horse, trekking - Leaving behind the Vignali farm, along
an old path, one reaches the Church of Pieve a Carli, then
continues to the Murlo Mines hamlet, crosses the Crevole brook
and the woods, finally reaching Montorgiali
N. 6: "Quato - Pompama - Befa Itinerary" length:
4500 m. travelling time: 1h 10'. accessibility: mountain bike,
horse, trekking - From Quato the path borders the hamlet of
Pompana, crosses the Rigagliano brook and, by joining the
communal road, reaches the Befa.
N. 7: "Resi - Apparita - Molino della Befa Itinerary"
length: 3400 m. travelling time: 50' accessibility: mountain
bike, horse, trekking - From the Resi intersection, (his path
reaches the hamlet, borders the Appartira linking this area
with itinerary n.1 to the Befa.
N. 8: "Casciano-Vallerano-Montepescini Itinerary"
length: 7200 m. travelling time: 1h 50'. accessibility: mountain
bike, horse, trekking ¦ From Casciano, following the
communal road, it crosses the hamlets of Poggio Brucoli- Poggio
Lodoli - Santo Stefano and Vallera-no. From here, crossing
the natural reservation of the lower Merse river, the itinerary
reaches Montepescini.
N. 9: "Montepescini -Terme di Petriolo Itinerary"
length: 5800 m. travelling time: 1h 20'. accessibility: mountain
bike, horse, trekking - Taking the communal road from Montepescini
village, this path crosses the Merse river, borders the Santo
farm and then reaches the asphalt road for the Petriolo Spa.
N. 10: "Befa - San Giusto - Montepescini Itinerary"
length: 8000 m. travelling time: 2h. accessibility: mountain
bike, horse, trekking - From the little hamlet of the Befa,
by crossing the Crevole brook and the Siena-Monte Antico railway,
this path reaches San Giusto. It then continues to the Pieve
farm, where it joins the asphalt road to Montepescini.
N. 11: "Olivello - Campotrogoli - Conventaccio - Campopalazzi
- Vallerano Itinerary" length: 7200 m. travelling time:
1h 50'. accessibility: mountain bike, horse, trekking - From
Olivello we cross the Crevolone brook and meet the Campotrogoli
farm. From here, following a path through we wood, we find
the Augustinian hermitage of Convettaccio and then continue
bordering the Orsa farm towards Campopalazzi and then Vallerano.
N. 12: "San Giusto - Campodrogoli Itinerary" length:
1300 rn. travelling time: 20'. accessibility: mountain bike,
horse, trekking - From San Giusto, going through the natural
reservation of the lower Merse river, this path leads to Campotrogoli,
where it connects with the itineraries for the Mines or Montepescini.
N. 13: "Cucculeggia - Viamaggio Itinerary" length:
5200 m. travelling time: 1h 20'. accessibility: mountain bike,
horse, trekking - This pathway starts from the panoramic spot
along Cas-ciano provincial road, goes in the direction of
the Cucculeggia ruins till Viamaggio hamlet, where it reaches
the provincial road to the Ville di Corsano village.
N. 14: "Crevole Itinerary" length: 450 m. travelling
time: 15'. accessibility: mountain bike, horse, trekking -
Starting from Casciano provincial road, this short track leads
to the ruins of Crevole Castle.
